Edinburgh Capitals took the points in another contest with Dundee Stars to complete a four-point weekend.
While the points were split over two competitions, the fact the Caps have won their second game in a row will be the most pleasing thing as they had to battle to achieve it this time.
Dundee were keen to take something, but couldn’t do enough and after a decent start to the season, now have four losses from five to look back on.
It took Edinburgh over half an hour to register their first of the night when Sergei Banashkov was assisted by Pavel Vorobyev to put them in front.
They added a second five minutes into the final period as Dylan Anderson was the man to apply the finish from Mike Cazzola’s set-up.
The Stars pushed to get themselves level and while they were able to claw one back through Gabriel Levesque, they were unable to tie things up.
With the Capitals already eliminated the Dundee Stars must now face a nervous wait until the final group games between Fife Flyers and Belfast Giants to see if they progress to the knockout stages of the competition.
