Belfast Giants completed a hard fought four-point weekend with a narrow victory in Edinburgh on Sunday night.
Following Saturday’s win in Braehead, the Giants jumped out to an early lead as Ryan Martinelli and Steve Saviano both scored within the opening 90 seconds of the game.
Hosts Edinburgh were able to fight back however, Alexander Islamov scoring just past the midway point of the period before Harry Ferguson tied the game up in the 14th minute.
Belfast reclaimed the lead with the only goal of the second period, recent signing Matt Bissonnette scoring on the powerplay.
Once again the Capitals found an equaliser however, Islamov and Marek Tvrdon combining to set up Igor Valeyev just past the midway point of the final frame.
Despite being pegged back twice, Belfast again found a go ahead goal, with Jim Vandermeer’s powerplay marker proving to be the game winner between the two injury hit sides.
