Edinburgh Capitals recorded their second Elite League victory of the season on Sunday night, snapping a 13-game losing streak.
Marek Tvrdon handed Edinburgh the lead after just over four minutes with the only goal of the first period, despite Coventry holding a marginal advantage on the shot clock.
Former NHL forward Pavel Vorobyev’s powerplay goal two and a half minutes into the second period further solidified the home side’s position before Tvrdon bagged his second of the night at the midway point of the period.
Sergei Banashkov made it 4-0 to the Capitals just over 8 minutes into the final frame before Coventry finally got on the board in the 53rd minute thanks to Adam Courchaine.
A late goal from Marc-Olivier Vallerand kept the Blaze in the game with just under 90 seconds to go, but any hopes of a dramatic late comeback were quelled when Vorobyev fired into an empty net to wrap up a 5-2 win for the Capitals.
