Brendan Brooks picked up a hat-trick as Braehead Clan got the points in an 8-2 home victory over Edinburgh Capitals.
Sergei Banashkov got the opener for Edinburgh when Pavel Vorobyev set him with a low shot and the Russian swept a shot into the Clan net.
Braehead levelled shortly after when Brendan Brooks chance hit the post and dropped behind the line, which was confirmed by the use of goal-line technology.
Tyler Shattock put the home side in front when he arrived late to meet Ville Hämäläinen’s short pass from the centre.
Then Brooks got the final touch on a shot from Zach Sullivan to divert the chance past Edinburgh goalie Pavel Shegalo.
Brooks set up Scofield to add Braehead’s fourth early in the second period before Pavel Vorobyev pulled one back for the Capitals shortly after.
The home side reopened the three-goal lead as Clan won the draw in a faceoff, with Brooks pulling the trigger to complete his hat-trick.
Craig Cescon then added a sixth before the end of the second to make the lead a bit more comfortable for the Clan.
But the job was complete with further markers from Jacob Doty and Mike Embach in the third to make the scoreline an emphatic one for the John Tripp’s men.
