23 year old forward Callum Boyd has agreed to return to the Edinburgh Capitals for the 2017/18 Elite League season.
Boyd signs from the Braehead Clan where he spent last season, having previously played for the Capitals between 2014-16. Boyd’s gritty style of play and commitment on the ice every shift made him an instant hit with the Capitals fans and team mates. The club are extremely pleased to be able to welcome Callum back to the clubs roster for next season.
The 5ft 10” and 154lb forward scored 14 points for the club over 2 season previously as he played his first two seasons in the Elite League. Having seen ice time limited with Clan last season, Boyd will be looking to kick start his Elite League career back with the club where he made his debut at this level.
Boyd will turn 24 in November and will be looking to make himself a key member of the clubs roster this season. The forwards style can often see him described as an “agitator”, and this is a quality the Capitals will certainly appreciate as part of their offensive threat each game this season. Boyd will be looking to build on his Elite League point scoring totals this season and will undoubtedly benefit from the coaching of ex-NHL legend Dimitri Khristich.
On his return to the Capitals Boyd said “I’m looking forward to being back at the Caps this season. I’ve got a good feeling about this year. I’ve been given a great opportunity to work under someone like our Head Coach Dmitri Khristich, and I’m looking forward to having him help me develop my game further. I’m really pleased to be coming back, the fans were great with me when I played here before, even when I was playing for another club last season I still felt I had a good bond with the Caps fans. I cant wait to get this season going and help the club have a great season.”
General Manager Scott Neil commented on the capture “Callum is a popular player who brings energy and enthusiasm to the squad. I’m pleased to have him back at the club and know he’ll get a warm welcome back from the fans.”
