High scoring forward Liam Cassidy has joined the Capitals Academy on a two way contract.

He will be playing for the Edinburgh Capitals SNL team and will have the opportunity to train with the Capitals EIHL squad as part of the Capitals Academy. Cassidy originally came through the Perth Junior System until he was 9 then signed for Kirkcaldy. At 15 he played a year at Murrayfield with the Under 18s.

Cassidy said, “After four years at Kirkcaldy I could see that Edinburgh would be the best fit for me in trying to progress my career further. I'd played at Murrayfield before so was comfortable with the club but the appointment of Martin Cingel as coach of the SNL team made this an easy decision for me.”

Martin Cingel commented, “Liam is an impact player at SNL level and he knows how to score. If he works hard he might get a chance in the Elite team too.”

Edinburgh Capitals SNL captain CJ Blackburn said, “Having Liam sign is a massive statement. He's one of the best younger players in the league and it shows that not only are Edinburgh Capitals SNL out to win, there is serious thought being put into players that can be developed and progress into Elite League players.”
