SNL Update

11 November 2017

Edinburgh Capitals SNL are in action at HOME this weekend with a game against last years SNL title winners, the Paisley Pirates on Sunday, 6pm face off. Edinburgh Capitals Elite League season ticket holders can go to the game for just £5.

We took the opportunity to speak to Edinburgh Capitals SNL coach Martin Cingel on the season to date. He said "We have had a positive start this year and I am really happy with the boys work rate. We have won 5 out of our 6 league games so far this season. its a strong start to the season".

In terms of coaching Martin said "Martin Gill returned as the team manager again and I am glad that Iain Robertson (father of Caly/Aaron Robertson) joined us as an assistant coach. I used to play with Iain, we know each other very well and he has brought vast of experience with him to this team."

On the roster assembled this season Martin added "We brought in a well known name in Jordan Steel and also players such as Jordan Ross, Aaron and Caly Robertson and Robbie Balfour as back up netminder following the retirement of Graham Rodger over the summer. We also brought in 16 year old Angus MacLean who came in to the squad from the U20 side and it is up to him to work hard and show he deserves to stay within the squad, he has a lot of talent."

Going on to discuss the way he works with the various levels based at Murrayfield, Martin said "I work on positive communication between myself and the junior coaches from u20 and u16 about players. We keep an eye on everybody and if we see somebody is working hard he will get a chance."

With a number of players traversing the SNL/Elite League squads he said "We are trying to improve our players so they can break into the Elite league team - it is positive to see how Harry Ferguson improved within a year. Although there is still a huge amount of work ahead of him for him to establish himself as a regular Elite league player he's been a motivator for future players. We hope others will follow him this year."

It is a big weekend for the SNL side this weekend with an AWAY game vs Dundee Comets on Saturday and then the HOME encounter with Paisley Pirates on Sunday (6pm). With no Elite League hockey this weekend come and support Martin Cingel and the SNL team on Sunday.
