18 year old defenceman Tyler Plews has put pen to paper on a 2 year contract with the Edinburgh Capitals.
Having joined the Edinburgh Capitals in the summer of 2015, last season was Tyler’s first as a professional player. In an impressive debut year he played 53 games in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) scoring one goal and three assists.
The player caught the eye of the Capitals after impressing in the SNL (41 points in 44 SNL games). Plews made the transition in to the Elite League smoothly last season and as a player who plays with an “edge” won over the Capitals fan base quickly.
Entering his second season at Elite League level Plews is looking to the build on the experience of 2015-16. He said “I had a good season last year, I really enjoyed playing for the Capitals. It didn’t go quite to plan for the team, but I felt I played well in my first season in the Elite League. I now want to focus on improving and Edinburgh is perfect for that. I’m combining playing with a 2 year Sports HND in Edinburgh, so signing up for the next two seasons is perfect for me. I can combine my sporting and educational development in tandem”
Edinburgh Capitals Elite League coach Michal Dobron added “I’ve heard great things about Tyler, I’m told he had a strong first season having stepped up to Elite level. He’s a quality young Scottish defenceman who plays with aggression and I think he will prove an important player for us. I’m looking forward to playing with him next season”.
