Nottingham Panthers booked their place in the play-offs in emphatic style as they blew away Edinburgh Capitals in an 12-1 game.
The Caps saw players such as Jay King, Patrik Moisio and Dillon Lawrence all ruled out through injury or illness, forcing them to turn to five rookie players.
By the end of the first, the Panthers were six goals to the good as Alexander Mokshantsev, Robert Lachowicz, Mike Vaskivu, Eric Lindhagen, Mark Deralgo and Jordan Kelsall all netted.
Edinburgh were able to get one back after six minutes of the second period when Ainars Podzins found the net.
But the night worsened for the visitors as Mokshantsev picked up his second, with Mathieu Gagnon, Zack Phillips, a second from Kelsall and one from Brett Perlini made it 11-1 after 40 minutes.
Derlago doubled his tally for the night with the only goal of the third period to complete a good night’s work for Corey Neilson’s men, who claimed the seventh play-off spot.
