Ontario born Michael D’Orazio enters his first year as a professional having moved to the Edinburgh Capitals from St Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He spent 5 impressive years at the University playing for their hockey team, the Huskies. In 116 games the defenceman scored 81 points. In addition, over the course of the past 5 seasons D’Orazio was the Assistant Captain for the Huskies for 3, made the CIS All Canadian all-star team and also added a Gold Medal at the 2013-14 FISU games whilst playing for Canada.
Prior to attending St Mary’s University the Canada U-18 international had a strong Junior career playing for Owen Sound Attack and then captaining the London Knights, both in the Ontario Hockey League.
Michal Dobron commented, “He’s a big guy, a good skater and he’s very strong. D’Orazio will play a physical game, and he can distribute and shoot. Mike also brings a number of years of leadership skills, having been Captain of the London Knights in the OHL and as an Assistant Captain at St Mary’s University. He had a great junior career and then a great 5 years at St Mary’s. We’re excited by what he brings. This year a priority aim is to build from the back, and upgrading our defensive corps, we believe that Mike D’Orazio helps to achieve that.”
