Forsyth Makes It A Trio Of Goalies

Edinburgh Capitals have signed 19 year old netminder, Aaron Forsyth, for the upcoming 2022-23 SNL campaign. This means that Head Coach Steven Lynch will run with three goalies this season.

Aaron is a promising up-and-coming goalie who has grown up learning his trade in the Aberdeen Junior system. He spent a year icing with North Ayr at U16 and U20 levels. During that spell, he also went on loan to Belfast Giants U20s for one appearance.

Aaron made the move to Solway in 2018-19 where he played for the U20s. He returned to Aberdeen to guest in one game. The following year the stopper iced again with the Solway U20s, whilst also stepping up to play as backup goalie for the Sharks SNL and NIHL 1 team. The Sharks went on to win the SNL League title that campaign.

Aaron, like many others that have signed for the Capitals this summer, was a Scottish Internationalist. He played for his home nation at the U17 level for two years, from 2017-2019.

Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to get another goalie onboard to push both Craig Chalmers and Dominick Jaglar. “Competition for places is important. Goalies are no different. Aaron and I have spoken at length about this coming season and I have made it clear to him that Craig and Dom are our number 1 & 2. He still wants to be a part of what we are rebuilding which shows how much it means to him to be an Edinburgh Capital. I know after speaking with him that he has the dedication to push them both to be the best they can be and if either pick up an injury or their standards slip, he’ll be ready to step in. He’s a good person, he has represented Scotland U17s two years in a row. I know we can depend on him if the need arises and we welcome him to the Caps.”

Youngster Aaron is looking forward to getting back out there between the nets. “I’m really happy to have signed with the Caps this season. It’s great to see hockey return to Edinburgh. I am excited for my first season back after the pandemic as I’ve greatly missed not playing. I’m hoping to get some big wins this season with the lads and coach Steven Lynch. I’m also looking to gel with a new team. It’s going to be tough to start back after 2 years but I’m excited for the challenge.”

More signing news will be announced soon.
