Murrayfield Juniors Given A Chance To Shine

15/09/2022

There are only a few days to go until Edinburgh Capitals get their 2022-23 SNL league campaign underway. Head Coach Steven Lynch is putting the finishing touches to the roster in preparation for the season ahead.

Over the last four weeks, five Murrayfield Juniors Under 19s have been training with the Capitals. Cameron Gallagher, Lewis Stewart, Finlay Francey, Rhys Stenhouse, and Stephen Mullen will carry on to train with the team throughout the season. These youngsters will be working hard each week to impress Coach Lynch and when the chance comes along they will hope to pull on the Capitals jersey.

Head Coach Steven Lynch knows the importance of having depth and competition in the squad, the U19s provide this. “It’s really important to me that the Edinburgh Capitals and Murrayfield Junior Ice Hockey Club form a strong link going forward. These 5 players mark the beginning of that. All 5 have been skating with us since we began Pre-season training and our goal is to work with them so they hopefully become full-time members of the team. They will all keep training with us this season and if and when the chance comes, we will look to give them some game time as the year goes on. They will also be the core of our U19 team where they will keep getting valuable ice time. It won’t be easy for them as we have a strong team but they have been told that if they work hard enough and want it badly enough then opportunities will be given to them. This shows that as a club, we are committed to junior players’ development which also gives some of the younger players at MJIHC hope that they too can play for the Capitals one day.”

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
