Youngster Tymo Is A Cap

21/08/2023
Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce that 17-year-old forward Tymo Szewczyk will be joining the club for the 2023-24 campaign.

Tymo arrives at the Caps having spent last season with Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Fife Falcons. Standing at 6ft tall, he will be a useful addition that Head Coach Steven Lynch will be looking to bring into the lineup throughout the year.

Murrayfield Juniors U19s will also benefit from having Tymo here in Edinburgh as he will also ice for them this upcoming campaign. Whilst training with the Juniors and the Capitals he will look to progress and feature in the SNL roster.

Edinburgh-born Tymo, started his junior career playing with Lanarkshire Lightning before making the move over to Fife joining the Kirkcaldy Junior system in 2021-22. That season in Fife he also got his first taste of SNL hockey when he featured in two games for the Kestrels. He was able to grab his first senior goal in one of those games. Last season he would take to the ice in 12 times for the Kirkcaldy men picking up 1 assist.

On moving to Edinburgh, the former Scottish Junior Internationalist had this to say, “I am glad to be joining such a prestigious club as the Edinburgh Capitals. I’m really looking forward to working with an experienced coach in Steven Lynch. I hope not only to excel in my own game but also to contribute to the team’s success. Hopefully, we can have a successful season and I can’t wait to get started.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch was delighted to add a player he knows very well. “Tymo is a player I’ve known for a few years through junior hockey and my time with SIH working with the National Program. He has chosen to come to Edinburgh this year to tie in with his studies at university. I’ve watched him develop over the years and think that he’ll be a good young addition to our club. He’ll spend time training with us and we’ll look to get him into the line up as much as we can, and he’ll also benefit from getting valuable ice time with our U19s too. I look forward to working with him and helping him develop his game.”

The club is still working hard behind the scenes with hopefully some more exciting signing news coming very soon.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
