Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Aiden Paterson for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.
19-year-old Aiden has been ever-present on the Caps roster since signing back in the summer of 2022. He has iced in all 74 games over the two campaigns scoring 4 goals, 20 assists for 24 points.
Aiden is a steady Dman back on the blueline each week and brings some youth to the lineup. He has played a considerable amount of minutes in important games and this will only stand him in good stead for the future.
As a junior Aiden played mostly in the Lanarkshire Lightning Junior system but also had spells at Solway and Fife before stepping up to the SNL here with the Capitals. He had signed with Murrayfield Racers before Covid, but unfortunately, the team never took to the ice.
Aiden is again a vital part of the D group that Head Coach Steven Lynch is putting together. “Another player returning for his third year in a Caps jersey. Aiden has been progressing well over the last two seasons and has become a dependable defenceman for us by playing with a composure others sometimes don’t. He can make a good first pass and can chip in offensively too.
Now in year 3, we’ll be looking for him to take his game to the next level and hopefully start to transition into a more responsible role within the team.
He’s another player that loves playing in Edinburgh and it was an easy conversation to get him to confirm that he’ll be joining us again for another season.”
We asked Aiden his thoughts on returning to the club for the upcoming season. “I’m really excited to be back for a third season at the Caps.
Although last season didn’t finish the way we wanted in the league, it was an amazing feeling winning the Play Offs on home ice in front of our amazing fan base.
Next year we will be looking to push on and win the league and I’m confident with the boys we have signed up so far we will be in a good place come April.”
There will be more signing news coming so keep up to date on the club media pages.
