Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the signing of Olly King for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.
20-year-old forward Olly arrives at the club having spent last season playing with Whitley Warriors in the NIHL 1. In 27 games for the Warriors, he scored 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points.
Having grown up in the Lanarkshire Lightning Junior system he also had spells at Solway and Fife juniors. After the pandemic, he made his first steps into senior hockey when he signed with Paisley Pirates in season 2021-22. That year he iced in 18 games in the SNL scoring 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points.
The following season Olly decided to try his luck in Canada and signed with the Kelowna Chiefs of the Kootenay International Junior Ice Hockey League. Based in British Columbia, Olly would gain valuable experience playing in North America picking up 3 goals in 27 appearances.
He then returned to Britain and his next stop was the Warriors at the start of 2024-25. Incidentally, Olly faced the Caps here last January and was part of the Warriors’ winning Northern Challenge Cup team.
Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to bring in another body so close to the start of the season. “Another player I’ve known for a number of years, Olly has a good work ethic and a will to improve and progress in the game. He will bring energy into the lineup and give our forward group some more added depth which we are always looking for.
Last season, things didn’t work out for him the way he hoped so we welcome him here to Edinburgh where we will be getting another good young player that will be a good fit for our team.”
Olly had this to say when signing here in Edinburgh with the Capitals. “I’m excited to sign with Edinburgh this year and to play back in Scotland. Signing for Edinburgh was the right choice for me, they’ve built a strong team over the past couple of seasons and I’m more than enthusiastic to get started.
Playing in Edinburgh with Whitley I noticed how strong the support was from the fans and I’d love to be part of that. I’m looking forward to seeing what I can offer the team and how the season will turn out.”
The 2024-25 season will be underway very shortly and we cannot wait to see this team to take to the ice here in the Lion’s Den.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
