For the third consecutive season, your Edinburgh Capitals will face NIHL 1 side Whitley Warriors for the chance to lift the Northern Challenge Cup.
These games will take place on Saturday 14th December 2024 here at Murrayfield Ice Arena (6.30pm) and the return leg the following night, Sunday 15th December 2024 down in Whitley Bay (5pm).
For the last two seasons, both teams have gone to battle over a two-legged affair. In 2022-23 the Caps came out victorious winning on aggregate 9-6 but last season the Warriors gained revenge to lift the trophy, grabbing a 4-1 victory over both legs.
This is once again a great chance for our club, first of all to test ourselves against a team in the league above but also to rekindle that Scotland/England rivalry which every fan enjoys.
Our game last January brought a bumper crowd here to the Lion’s Den and we again are hoping to see you all here to cheer on the team. Two very passionate fan bases and with it being the season of goodwill we are sure the atmosphere will be amazing as always.
Head Coach Steven Lynch relishes these games and knows that Scottish Ice Hockey is on the up. “I think over the last few years we have shown we can compete and win games against teams in the NIHL 1. We are sure that both games will be as competitive as the ones previous and with silverware up for grabs the guys will be doing all they can to bring that trophy back to Murrayfield.
It’s always good to test yourself and the Warriors will be a test that we will really look forward to. We also have a couple of last season Warriors in our lineup this year who will be looking to get one over on their former teammates I’m sure.
As always the great Caps fans will come out in their numbers to support the team I’m sure just as they have done in previous games against the Warriors.”
Tickets are available now to buy now for our home game via the Fanbase app.
Please note this game IS NOT included in the season ticket package.
