It is the date every Caps fan looks forward to on the calendar.
On Thursday 31st December 2026, your Edinburgh Capitals will face our closest rivals, the Kirkcaldy Kestrels, at Murrayfield Ice Arena for what promises to be another huge Hogmanay Hockey showdown.
Last season, a record-breaking 3,150 fans packed out the Lion’s Den, creating the first capacity crowd in Edinburgh Capitals history at Murrayfield. This year, our goal is simple: #SellOutTheDen once again and finish 2026 in style.
Face-off is at 2pm, giving you the perfect opportunity to start your Hogmanay celebrations with an afternoon of ice hockey. Following the game, there will be a free one-hour skate for fans before you head off to continue your New Year celebrations.
There is no better way to spend the festive period with the family.
Two fierce rivals will go head-to-head for two valuable SNL league points, with pride and bragging rights also on the line. The Edinburgh-Fife rivalry has been a major part of Scottish ice hockey for decades, and neither side will want to finish the year on the wrong side of the result.
Head Coach Steven Lynch is already looking forward to the occasion and knows the Caps faithful will turn out in force once again. “It’s the game all the boys talk about because we know we’ll be playing in front of a huge crowd. Last season, we achieved a sell-out for the first time in Caps history here at Murrayfield, but we don’t want that to be a one-off. We want to do it time and time again.
“You might think Hogmanay is still a long way away, but it will be here before we know it, and the team would love to see you all here that afternoon.
“This year, there is that extra bit of spice knowing we face the Kirkcaldy Kestrels. These are two teams that never want to lose to each other. It will be a battle, and we’ll be looking to end the year on a high.
“Tickets will sell fast, so don’t miss out.”
Game tickets are now live on Fanbase.
Tickets are priced at Adult – £15, Child – £9.
Season tickets are valid for this fixture.
Last season, you made history by filling the Lion’s Den. Now we want to do it all over again.
The countdown to Hogmanay Hockey is on.
Let’s sell out the Den and finish 2026 in style.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
