Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce that Jonnie Livingstone, Charlie McLoughlin-Hanna and Ryan Chambers have all signed with the club for the 2026-2027 SNL campaign.
The trio will once again train with the senior squad and be ready to step into the line-up whenever called upon, continuing their development as well as icing at Under-19 level with the Edinburgh Capitals Academy.
Netminder Jonnie Livingstone made his senior debut for the Capitals last season in Kilmarnock, playing the final five minutes of the game. A week later, he made his first home appearance against the same opposition, helping the Capitals secure a convincing 9-3 victory. Jonnie will continue his development alongside experienced goaltenders Ben Keddie and Ciaran Hoggan, ensuring he is ready to seize every opportunity that comes his way.
Defenceman Charlie McLoughlin-Hanna was a regular member of the senior roster throughout last season, dressing in 25 games and making valuable contributions whenever called upon. More recently, he represented Scotland Under-17s at the Showcase event in Sheffield. After gaining his first taste of senior hockey, Charlie will be looking to build on that experience and take another significant step forward this season.
At just 15 years old, forward Ryan Chambers has already made a strong impression since joining the senior squad for training in February. He finished last season as the leading scorer for Murrayfield Juniors Under-16s, recording 16 goals and three assists for 19 points in 15 games. Ryan also featured at Under-19 level, where he registered six goals and five assists in 15 games, finishing as the team’s second-highest scorer.
Head Coach Steven Lynch believes the continued progression of young players is vital as the Edinburgh Capitals Academy continues to grow.
Speaking about the three youngsters, he said, “We’ve always talked about the importance of bringing young players through from the Murrayfield Juniors to the senior team. Now, with the introduction of the new Capitals Academy, that importance has grown even further. It’s vital that we continue to create a strong pathway for players who aspire to represent the Capitals.
“Having these three spending as much time as possible with us in training and in games will be hugely beneficial to their development, and we want to give them every opportunity to progress.
“Charlie has a fantastic work rate and dedication to the game. He dressed in over 20 games last season and gained some valuable ice time throughout the year.
“Jonnie got his first taste of senior hockey between the pipes last season, and we’re hoping there will be even more opportunities for him this year.
“Ryan joined us in training in February and made huge strides by the end of the season.
“We’ll be looking for all three of these young prospects to keep working hard, continue listening and learning, and push for more game time throughout the season.”
The team returns to the ice in the coming weeks as preparations for the new campaign get underway. Steven Lynch and the boys can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the Lions Den for another exciting season.
