Two-Way Deal For Solway Youngsters

12/11/2022

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce a double two-way signing of forward, Kyle Carruth and defenceman, Kian Shevlin from Solway Sharks.

Both players will come in to bolster the roster for the games tonight and tomorrow against Whitley Warriors. At present details are still being arranged as to how often both will play with the team throughout the season.

16 year old Kyle has grown up through the Solway junior system and this season progressed to the Sharks NIHL roster. Last season he represented Great Britain in the U16 Riga Cup alongside our very own Joe Lynch. Kyle top scored in the tournament for GB with 3 goals.

Kian is also a 16 year old who grew up in the Kirkcaldy junior system. He stands at 6ft 5” and has represented Scotland in all junior age groups. In season 2021-22 he played over in the USA with Birmingham Rangers and Victory Honda. Last term he iced in Dundee at U16 & U19 levels before making the move to Solway this summer.

Head Coach Steven Lynch is excited to have both Kyle and Kian, when available on the roster. “I have been speaking with Martin Grubb about this for some time now. Solway have a couple of talented young players on the fringes of their NIHL team and we have been looking to add to the depth of our squad. I know both of these kids very well and know that even though they are both only 16, they can help our team and we can help with their development in the process. Martin and I have agreed in principle that they will both come on a two-way contract between Solway & Edinburgh starting with being in the line-up for us this weekend against Whitley Bay. We are still to figure out a few very minor details but nothing that will prevent this partnership from benefitting both clubs.”

We would like to thank Martin Grubb and Solway Sharks for helping to set this deal up, which will benefit both clubs and players.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
