Archie Is Back Holmes

26/04/2023

Edinburgh Capitals have been moving fast on the signing front and we are delighted to announce another returning player from last season. This time we welcome back forward Archie Holmes for the 2023-24 SNL campaign.

Edinburgh-born Archie, grew up through the Murrayfield Junior system as well as spending some time in Canada. He attended school and played hockey at Kings-Edgehill, in season 2016-17. With this experience behind him, he then broke into the SNL with Murrayfield Racers back in 2019-20 posting 17 points.

Last season as a Capital, in 29 games Archie grabbed 8 goals and 8 assists for 16 points. He will be looking to carry on from last year and contribute when out there on the ice.

Archie who turns 20 next week, brings great speed and skill to the line-up. When in full flow Archie is undoubtedly one of the fastest skaters in the league.

He is delighted to be back onboard, “I’m really happy to be back playing for the Caps. It was an easy decision to come back for another year.

Last season was a great first season to be a part of. It was a good bunch of guys in the team and that created a good atmosphere around the club. It was also great to see the support that we got from the Caps fans every game.

I’m looking forward to seeing the crowds coming in again for the season ahead and hopefully, we can reward them with some silverware this time next year.”

Like previous signings, Head Coach Steven Lynch moved fast to retain Archie for another year, “This is another exciting re-signing as we prepare for next year. Archie returned to hockey last season after some time off and looked like he’d never been away.

He brings a great work ethic and good speed which is vital to any team and he scored some important goals for us last season along the way. He also became a very dependable penalty killer as the year went on which was a welcome surprise.

He’s a selfless player who can play anywhere throughout our forward lines and will be a great addition to our lineup again this coming season.”

The team is taking shape with several returning players in place. Look out for further signings very soon.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
