Robo Returns

24/04/2023

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce our 7th re-signing for the 2023-24 SNL campaign. We are excited to welcome back forward, Aaron Robertson.

Aaron returns to the team having played 27 games last season for the club. Posting 11 goals, and 21 assists for 32 points.

After an early injury setback, Aaron started to show just why he was brought into the team as the year progressed. He settled onto a line with Chad Smith and Joel Gautschi and the three of them gelled well together and were a huge part of any success we had.

The Kirkcaldy-born playmaker will look to hit the ground running this coming season and is now one of the more senior players on the roster. He brings a wealth of experience having played in the SNL for now over 6 years. Back in 2017-18 Aaron also played 33 games in the EIHL as a Capital alongside his younger brother Caly.

Head Coach Steven Lynch had this to say, “This is another one I’m happy has re-signed for another year.

Coming to Edinburgh gave Aaron a fresh start and the chance to enjoy playing hockey again and it showed. He’s a relatively quiet person but the conversations I’ve had with him highlighted this.

He’s a player I’ve always liked as he often sees things on the ice when the pucks on his stick that others don’t. Sometimes things he tries come off and sometimes they don’t and occasionally things he’ll try can frustrate a coach but you need a guy or two like that on your team to provide a little bit extra creativity.

We’ll look to him again to provide offense and scoring opportunities for us next season both at 5-5 and on the power play.

We’ve had a chat about one or two changes he can make to his game and I think we’ll have a dangerous player in our line-up again next season.

Aaron commented on his return, “I’m delighted to be back with the Caps for another year. We had a great season with lots of highs and a great group of guys in the room.

Playing at home in front of the Caps faithful was amazing all year and there were a few results this year that we wouldn’t have gotten without them so I’m very much looking forward to playing in front of them once again.

We’re looking to come back even stronger than last year and get our hands on some more silverware, we can’t wait”.

We have more signings to be released very soon.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
