Edinburgh Capitals can confirm our 6th returning player for the 2023-24 SNL campaign. We are delighted to welcome back fan favourite, Ross Borwick.
“The Boss” as he is known by the Caps faithful has signed on and will be a huge part of the line up once again.
The Edinburgh-born forward grew up playing through the Murrayfield Junior system before progressing into the SNL. Ross brings a bit of everything to the roster. He can also play on the blueline as well as score big goals. If the going gets tough he is also not afraid to drop the gloves.
Ross wore an A on his jersey last season being a leader both on and off the ice. He is a big character in the locker room and a guy everyone will be happy to have back on board.
In 27 games Ross scored 14 goals, and 6 assists for 20 points.
On his return he had this to say, “I’m delighted to be back for another year. It was a no-brainer as it was such a good bunch of guys we had the season just past.
Also playing in front of all the fans week in, week out, was brilliant. We came up just short at the vital end of the season, which was hard to take, but we will all be looking at claiming silverware this season coming.
It will be great to see all the Caps fans back cheering us on as you all definitely helped us dig deep in every one of the games.”
Like the signings previously, Head Coach Steven Lynch moved fast to retain his services, “Ross is a popular guy around the rink amongst fans and teammates so it was a no-brainer to get him signed up early. He was another one that needed only a minute or two to say he’d be back for another year which continues to emphasise how guys enjoy playing here.
He’s loud and lively in the dressing room, played forward and defence for us at times last season, and can stand up for his teammates when necessary. He scored some important goals for us last season too which I’ll be looking for more of next year.
The decision to put an ‘A’ on his shirt last season was justified and merited. Now, as he starts to transition into one of the senior players on the team, I’m looking for Ross to take his game on and off the ice to the next level which I know he is capable of and I look forward to working with him again next year.”
We hope to have signing number 7 very soon. Stay tuned to our social media pages.
