Lynchy Back To Lead The Charge

06/04/2023

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce that Steven Lynch will return to his role as Head Coach for the 2023-24 SNL campaign.

Lynchy took on the job as the man in charge of the Capitals last summer, having played for the club for 8 seasons from 1999-2007. He quickly went to work and assembled a team to compete in the league throughout the 2022-23 season.

Although we came up short in the silverware column the team he put together gave us many memorable nights over the season and finished 2nd in the SNL standings. The former Caps captain has unfinished business and wants to build on what we started last September on the ice. He has already begun talks with returning players and also new signings to strengthen the roster.

On his return, he has this to say: “Of course, I’m delighted to be back with the Capitals for another year. While our season didn’t end as we hoped or planned, I feel that we laid some great foundations both on and off the ice to achieve success with what we did in the past nine or ten months and it’s exciting to be a part of the future here and build on it. I’ve made no secret in the past that Edinburgh was my favourite place to play and coaching is now no different.

We’re all disappointed with how the season finished, and everybody involved with the club wants to put that right. We want to build another strong squad that will challenge for and win silverware and continue to make our growing number of fans proud to follow the Caps.

I’ve already spoken to a few people about next year so squad preparation is already underway. The beauty of next season is that we won’t be playing catch up with everyone else from either recruitment or hitting the ice point of view. We’ll look again to create the right mix and bring in a few new faces with returnees from this year’s team to achieve our goal and I must say I’ve been blown away by the number of players that have already been in contact with me saying they would like to play for the Capitals.

It’s going to be another busy summer – I’m sure it will be rewarding.

See you all soon.”

Signing news will follow very soon, so stay tuned to our social media channels throughout the summer months.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
