Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce our 10th re-signing for the upcoming 2023-24 SNL campaign. It’s a very warm welcome back to defenceman, Jack Wright.
Jack signed on with the team last summer having previously played in the SNL with Murrayfield Racers back in season 2019-20.
The stay-at-home defenceman relishes the physical side of the game as we witnessed last term. He loves throwing big hits and without a doubt, Jack was one of the fittest players on the team, with his great work ethic which was second to none.
Over the festive period, Jack was selected to represent GB at the Universiade World Championships in Lake Placid, USA. He grasped this opportunity to test himself against the top players from universities all over the world. He then returned to us here in Edinburgh for the remainder of the season and brought back that experience to the team.
In 21 games last season, Jack grabbed 4 assists and 47 penalty minutes.
We caught up with Jack recently, “It is with great pleasure that I announce my decision to once again sign with the Edinburgh Capitals for the upcoming 2023/24 season. This past year has been an incredible rollercoaster ride, with many ups and downs that have taught us valuable lessons.
One of the clear highlights of the season was undoubtedly the set of matches against Whitley Bay. The energy that we displayed on the ice during those games was a testament to our hard work and dedication, and it was a great experience to come out with such thrilling victories.
Another unforgettable moment was the final match against Aberdeen, which was a true test of our resilience and perseverance. The struggle that we faced throughout the season culminated in a nail-biting finish that reminded us of how close the league was and how much effort each and every one of us put into the season.
Playing for the Caps has been great, and I feel fortunate to be a part of this team. The generous fan base that we have creates a unique and exhilarating atmosphere that cannot be replicated anywhere else. I am grateful for the support that we receive from our fans and I look forward to giving them our best efforts on the ice next year.
As a team and as a community, we have grown and learned a lot over the past year, and I am confident that we will continue to grow and improve in the coming season. With our experience and dedication, I have no doubt that we will finish at the top of the league next year.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch commented, “Jack is another player that we are delighted to have back for another year. He brings hard work and sheer determination to his position which generates a lot of success for him and gives us a strong stay-at-home defenceman. He plays physically, does the simple things, and rarely does an opposition forward come out of a corner with a puck in a one-on-one battle.
He had a solid year last year and was rewarded with a spot on the GB University team which is a credit to him and how he plays the game.
We’re glad to have him back in Edinburgh for another year and expect him to kick on from where he finished last season.”
The team is taking shape, but don’t worry there is more to come!
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
