Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the return of Russian forward Andrey Ogloblin for the 2023-24 SNL campaign.
Andrey will sign as a part of the import quota and will play when the situation arises. Only two imports can ice in each game but this will give Head Coach Steven Lynch some options over the course of the campaign.
The strong skating, 6ft 4” forward will be back in the Scottish capital this coming season to attend University. He will be part of the Caps roster and also continue playing for the Edinburgh Eagles University team.
Last season in 24 games Andrey scored 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points.
Head Coach Steven Lynch had this to say on the re-signing of the 23 year old. “Although we are only permitted to play two ‘imports’ during any game, it has always been my intention to carry more to cover any injury, loss of form or simply to create competition for places.
After speaking with Andrey, it’s clear that his University schedule this year is going to be very time-consuming and demanding. He did however intimate to me that he still wanted to be a part of things, having enjoyed last season as much as he did.
Andrey proved last season that he can play at SNL level and I know that we have a guy that we can call on when the situation arises. He will also play with the University team throughout the year and the whole agreement is a win-win for both parties.”
Andrey commented, “I was happy to be a part of the team bringing back hockey to Edinburgh. Despite the overall result, I enjoyed playing for the Capitals and I am very happy and excited to be back next season. Loads of competition and opportunity are offered, and I hope that I will be able to do my part for the overall success of the team.”
We are now only weeks away from the new season and we cannot wait to get started.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
