Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce that club captain Joel Gautschi has re-signed for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.
Joel had a very impressive season last time out leading the team in scoring with a massive 89 points, 44 goals, and 45 assists from 42 games in all competitions. In the previous campaign in 2022-23, he posted 42 points in 26 games.
He showed his leadership skills out on the ice grabbing us some very important goals in 2023-24. None more so than that Play Off Semi Final OT winner only a few weeks back here at Murrayfield to send us into the Final.
The 33-year-old centre was part of the Capitals Elite team in 2010-14 before icing in the SNL thereafter. He has also had spells at Dundee Comets, Murrayfield Racers, and this is now his 3rd term as a Cap since the club’s return.
Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to get his number one talisman back on board for the upcoming season. “Having our captain and on-ice general back again for next season is another huge step forward for our club as we prepare for another title push.
Joel leads from the front, demands the best out of others, and also has the ability to put the team on his back when needed to get us over the line.
It’s great news that he’ll be back and we look forward to him picking up where he left off last year.
Our first 4 signing announcements have signalled a statement of intent for next season. Having these 4 in Caps colours is great news for all involved. More signings will be announced soon.”
Joel is hoping the team can build on the success of last year. “I’m delighted to be back for another season as a Caps player. Last year was a successful campaign winning the Play Offs and the Northern League but we want more including that League title.
Speaking to Lynchy about his plans for the season and with the signings already made we are putting together another very strong team. I’m really looking forward to being part of it once again.
We will be ready to go come September.”
Keep your eyes peeled for more signing news on our social media pages very soon.
