Fan Favourite Scotty Signs On

29/05/2024

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the return of defenceman Scott Geddes for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.

The 30-year-old blueliner joined the club last summer when he signed from Dundee Comets. It took Scotty no time at all to settle in having played with the majority of the group previously at Murrayfield Racers.

Standing at 6ft 2inches, Scott brings experience and a physical presence to the back end. He became a huge fan favourite last term something we are sure will continue this coming campaign.

In 38 games he scored 4 goals and 11 assists for 15 points and only picked up 14 penalty minutes.

Winning the Play Offs in April was a special personal moment for Scott as he secured his 3rd Play Off title in consecutive years. He will be determined to make it 4 in a row in the year ahead with hopefully one or two more trophies along the way.

Scott grew up playing in the Kirkcaldy junior system before stepping up to the SNL icing with Kirkcaldy Kestrels, Dundee Tigers, Murrayfield Racers, and Dundee Comets.

This is what Scott had to say on his return. “I’m really excited to be back for the 2024-25 season. Last year was a successful one both on and off the ice, winning the Play Offs and the Northern League was a massive achievement for the club but we want to be better.

We’re determined to win the league after narrowly missing out and with the signings we’ve already made and with the signings to come, we’ll try and make that happen.

It was an easy decision to come back and when I spoke with Lynchy a few weeks ago, it was an easy yes.

Personally, I want to be a better version of myself. Last season was tough for me and the family and I wasn’t as fit and as sharp as I wanted to be but I’m already in off-ice preseason training and I’m buzzing to get back in the Lion’s Den and play in front of the best fans in the league.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch is looking to strengthen the D department but knows Scott is a huge part of that core that he wanted to get back on board. “After joining us from Dundee last summer, Scott fitted in really well with the group and gave us a bit of experience which we were maybe lacking a little bit.

He’s a guy who loves the game, is completely dedicated and easy to coach, and always gives everything he’s got when he’s on the ice.

I had no hesitation in bringing him in for another year and by the sounds of it, he’s delighted to come back and play on a team that he enjoys and feels at home.

We’ll be looking for some more of the same from Scott next season.”

More signing news will follow so keep looking on our social media pages in the next few days.
