Archie Is A Cap Once More

31/05/2024

Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce the return of forward Archie Holmes for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.

Archie is back for a 3rd consecutive season after signing with the team on their return to the ice back in 2022. An Edinburgh-born boy, Archie has played the majority of his hockey career through junior and senior here in the capital.

He also spent a year in Canada back in 2016-17 when he attended school and played with King’s Edgehill U18s in Windsor. This gave him great experience before returning to Scotland and breaking into the Murrayfield Racers SNL team then.

The recently turned 21-year-old played in 40 games last season for the club scoring 30 points, 14 goals, and 16 assists. This is his best return so far in his 3 years playing senior hockey and we are sure he will look to keep improving on that points tally in the season ahead.

The right winger showed last season that he could score big goals and we won’t forget his deadly double in the Play Off Final against Kirkcaldy Kestrels to help us lift the silverware back in April.

Archie brings great speed and skill to the lineup and Head Coach Steven Lynch will be hoping for more of that this season. “Archie brings a work ethic each game that coaches love. He has good energy and a competitive level that few can match. He’s also a good penalty killer and a scorer of some important goals throughout the season.

I’m delighted he’s coming back for a third season with us and he’ll again play a big part throughout the year.”

The former Scottish internationalist had this to say on his re-signing with the Caps. “I’m looking forward to being back playing for the Caps again this upcoming season. We had a good campaign last time out by winning the Play Offs and the Northern League.

Hopefully, we can win even more this season especially that league title that we have just come up short on the last two seasons.”

More signings are in the pipeline so stay tuned to the Caps social media.
