Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce the return of defenceman Ben Coughtrie for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.
Come September Ben will start his third season with the club having joined in the summer of 2022 when the team returned to the ice.
The 23-year-old blueliner has been a consistent performer at the back end game in game out and will have a huge part to play this coming season.
Before arriving at the Caps Ben had spent several seasons with Solway Sharks in the NIHL 1. He played his junior hockey in his him town of North Ayr before making the switch to the Sharks at the U20 level.
The last two seasons he has donned an A on his jersey and with this he brings leadership to the team both on and off the ice.
We caught up with him and asked him about his return for the upcoming season. “I’m buzzing to be back at the Caps once again!
I love playing in front of the amazing loud fans every weekend here in the Lion’s Den.
I want to have an even better season than last by lifting that league trophy that we have been striving for the last couple of years.
September can’t come quick enough and with the team Coach Lynch is putting together it’s going to be an exciting season ahead.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch knows Ben is another vital piece of the jigsaw and is delighted to get Ben signed up once again. “Ben is another player who intimated early that he would like to return to the Caps as he enjoys playing hockey here which we were all happy about.
Last season, when we paired him with James Isaacs, we saw him become a more confident defenceman and he put in a lot of very good performances as the season went on.
We’ll look for Ben to take his game to another level this year as he grows and matures and will expect him to continue to be a very important part of our defensive group.”
More signings are in the pipeline so stay tuned to the Caps social media pages in the coming days and weeks.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
