30 Goal Scorer Joe Returns

12/06/2024

Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce that forward Joe Lynch will be back once again for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.

Fresh off a 30-goal season Joe returns to the club for his third consecutive year having signed as a 16-year-old in the summer of 2022.

He has become a huge fan favourite with his never-say-die attitude, chasing down every puck each shift he is out there on the ice. Last season he was on a rich reign of form and his goal return was very impressive for a then 17-year-old kid playing in only his second year of senior hockey.

Just recently turned 18, Joe grew up in the Kirkcaldy Junior system before heading to Dundee to finish off his junior years. As you are all aware Joe is the son of Head Coach Steven. He has also represented Team Scotland and Team GB at various age groups over the years. Most recently he was part of the U19 Scotland team that won the home international series over England a few weeks back.

Joe has been an ever-present for the Capitals in the last two seasons. He has iced in 74 games so far scoring 38 goals and 22 assists for 60 points.

This upcoming season he will be out to have another impressive year and he had this to say on returning to the Caps. “I’m excited to be back for my third year here at Edinburgh, last year we came through with more trophies than the first season but it’s not enough to satisfy us as we know as a team we have the possibility to control the league and be up the top end of the table come the end of the season.

The fans in Edinburgh and the general people in Edinburgh are brilliant, I couldn’t say a bad word about them, I love playing here, it’s fun.

See you all come September time Caps fans and enjoy the rest of your summer.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch knows the importance of having youth on the roster and is excited to see Joe back once again. “Joe had what you would probably class as a bit of a breakout season last year although everyone associated with the club from coaches, management, and players within the dressing room knew that he had it in him.

Scoring 30 goals however, possibly exceeded everyone’s expectations and to do it at 17 was very impressive and it was good to watch as he grew into one of our go-to players as the season went on.

Now it’s time for him to take his game up another level which is something else he is capable of doing through hard work and dedication that he shows week in, week out in a Caps jersey.

Like any young player, he aspires to play at the highest level he possibly can. I don’t know if Edinburgh and the SNL will be able to hold on to him forever, but for now, we’re all delighted that he’s committed to another season in the Den as we all know how much he enjoys playing here.”

More exciting signing news will be coming soon. Watch this space!
