Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce forward Adam Robinson as our latest signing for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.
Irishman Adam arrives at the club having iced in the NIHL 1 last season with Whitley Warriors. In 29 games he scored 6 goals, and 8 assists for 14 points. Adam was also part of the Warriors team that claimed the Northern Challenge Cup here at Murrayfield in January against the Caps.
The 27-year-old right winger grew up playing in the Belfast Giants Junior system. He progressed to the Giants SNL team in 2012-13 while still playing U18 hockey with his hometown club. For the next few seasons he would split his time between junior and SNL and in 2015-16 he would play 4 games in the NIHL 1 with Solway Sharks. This was the same season Caps legend Martin Cingel was icing for the Dumfries-based club.
Season 2016-17 Adam decided to test himself by heading to Canada to play in the GMHL (Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League) with the Meaford Knights. He would ice in 41 games scoring 3 goals and 7 assists for 10 points. That year he would also wear an A on his jersey showing he was a leader both on and off the ice.
The following campaign would be huge for Adam as he trained daily with the Belfast Giants in the EIHL. He would go to ice in 9 games for the team playing alongside some former Caps in Mark Garside, David Rutherford, and Stephen Murphy. Although appearances were limited the experience of training day in, day out, with a full-time professional team would benefit Adam massively.
Next stop was to be Dumfries as he became a Solway Shark once again playing in the NIHL 1. He only iced part of the season before returning to Belfast at the start of the following year to captain the Giants SNL team. In season 2020-21 we were struck by Covid and in 2021-22 he was again playing in the SNL with his home team. That year would see him earn two further call-ups to the Elite League Giants.
2022-23 Adam returned to Scotland this time to sign with Dundee Comets. Adam came up against the Caps in what was our first season back on the ice. In 23 games he grabbed 7 goals and 6 assists. That year he would help the team lift the Scottish Cup and the SNL Play Off trophy alongside our very own Scott Geddes.
From Dundee, it was off to Whitley last term. The Irish internationalist brings a wealth of experience with him to the club. We asked Adam his thoughts on joining us here. “I am thrilled to be joining the Caps! I have heard so many great things about the club, the players, and especially the fans.
I am looking forward to playing with Scotty again. He has said amazing things about the lads. I can’t wait to meet them.
I am sure that we are going to bring some silverware to the Lion’s Den this year.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to have another forward signed up and knows Adam will bring something different to the roster this year. “I’ve been speaking to Adam since the season ended about this. He told me he was blown away by the atmosphere here when he came to Murrayfield with Whitley last season and a couple of other times when he came to watch his good friend, Scotty Geddes play. He wanted to play in front of the Caps fans every week.
I’ve actually spoken to him 3 summers in a row now about him joining Edinburgh. Until now there’s always been something in the way but now we’ve got everything sorted and we welcome him to the club.
With him being based in Belfast, I have to say that his dedication and commitment to travelling to play hockey is fantastic. He’s making himself available to not only play at weekends but commit to midweek training too as his job as a lawyer gives him opportunities to work from ‘home’ certain days per week which makes the situation workable for all parties.
It looks like Scott will have a lodger for most of the season!! Welcome to Edinburgh Adam!!”
The team is building fast and we have more exciting signing news coming very soon.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
