Home Boy Deano Back Again

17/07/2024

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Dean Walker for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.

‘Deano’ played a big part in the success we had last season and he will again be looking to contribute as we look to add more silverware in the year ahead. In 40 games last season, he scored 1 goal and 7 assists for 8 points.

The 27-year-old blueliner has played all his hockey here in Edinburgh. Starting as a junior in the Murrayfield system he progressed through the age groups before stepping up to the SNL in 2013-14 with the Caps. He would be part of the Caps SNL roster for the next 4 years before joining the then recently formed Murrayfield Racers in 2018-19.

While with the Racers Deano would win several trophies in a successful spell with the club. Unfortunately, covid hit and although he was signed up for another year at the Racers it was not to be as the rink remained closed.

The Capitals as you all know returned in season 2022-23 and Head Coach Steven Lynch signed Dean. He is a firm fan favourite and a big part of the locker room and a welcome addition to the roster.

Speaking to Deano on his return he had this to say, “I’m glad to be back for another season. Personally, I thought last season was one of my best seasons in a long time.

I thought as a team it was a good year winning 2 out of 4 trophies and just falling short in the league. That’s the one we want, with the signings we have made so far we are putting together a strong team that will hopefully be able to secure the league and maybe more.

I can’t wait to get back into the Lion’s Den and play in front of the incredible fans, hopefully we can bring you more special moments this season.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch knows the importance of having depth in the D unit and is happy to have Dean back again. “It’s great that Dean has committed for another season. He’s a popular guy in the room and always gives his all on the ice.

Having Dean back gives us the depth we require for our defensive group and keeps competition for places healthy.

He’s an easy guy to coach and it’s always nice to see a player always playing with a smile on his face as he really enjoys playing for the Caps and in front of our great fans.”

We will have a few more faces to announce in the coming weeks so stay tuned to all the Caps media channels.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
