Youngster Tymo Returns

21/07/2024

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Tymo Szewczyk for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.

18 year old Tymo arrived at the club at the start of the 2023-24 season having made the move from Kirkcaldy Kestrels. Tymo also played U19 hockey last term for the Murrayfield Juniors as well as icing for the Caps.

In 34 games Tymo scored 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points. His first Caps goal came against North Ayr closely followed by his second for the club only 12 minutes later in the same game down in Auchenharvie. At U19 level he grabbed 11 goals, 8 assists for 19 points in 10 games.

This season Tymo will once again split his time between junior and senior hockey and will be looking to gain more valuable ice time for the Caps in the season ahead.

Having grown up in the Lanarkshire junior system he then moved to Kirkcaldy in 2021-22 at U16’s. That season he would also play U19’s and a couple of games in the SNL for the Kestrels. The following year he would split his time with the U19’s and Kestrels SNL before signing on here at the Caps.

The former Scottish junior internationalist had this to say on his return to the team. “I’m excited to be back for the new season. The chance to play in front of all the fans once again was a big part in me returning.

With all the new signings plus the returning guys we have a good chance to win some trophies this season.

I can’t wait to get back on the ice at the end of August and look forward to seeing what lies ahead for the team in 24/25.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch knows having youth on the team will be valuable in the season ahead. “Tymo is a young player who is hungry for more ice time which I’d like to reward him with this season. He’s a good kid who fitted in well with the guys after arriving last year and I’m glad he’s decided to return for another season with us.

Hopefully he can continue to progress and claim a regular shift this year as he has all the attributes for that to happen.”

The signings just keep coming and more news will follow very soon.
