Rhys Is Back For 2024-25

20/07/2024

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Rhys Stenhouse for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.

Rhys is back for his second year of full time senior hockey having made the step up from junior at the start of last season. In 24 games last term he wasn’t able to pick up any points and ended up with 27 penalty minutes. At the end of the previous season he scored his first senior goal in our final league game of the season against North Ayr.

Having grown up in the Murrayfield junior system, as a club it’s great to see players making the next step to senior hockey. Rhys along with Cammy Gallagher will be back on the roster for the upcoming season looking to gain some valuable ice time throughout.

On his return Rhys said, “I’m glad to be back for another season with the Caps. Last season was very successful winning two trophies but hopefully we come away with the league title this year as well.

It’s great to be back playing in front of the Caps fans and it’s great seeing how the fanbase has built over the last two years since the team returned to the ice.

The season is not long away now and it will be good to get back on the ice here at the Lion’s Den.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch had this to say about Rhys returning. “Rhys returns for another season and will be fighting for more ice time on that D unit. Playing and training with experienced guys such as James Isaacs and Rihards Grigors will only improve his game.

When the chance has appeared he has done well and contributed to the team. Hopefully more opportunities will appear for him this coming season.

If we want to compete long into every competition again this year we will need depth in our roster and Rhys adds just that.”

The roster slots are slowly filling up with more still to come. You will hear all signings here on the Caps social media pages.
