Philly Is In For Year 2

28/06/2025

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Kris Phillips for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.

Philly joined the club at the start of last term when he joined from Dundee Tigers. With the demise of both the Tigers and the Comets up in Dundee last summer, he decided to come to Edinburgh for a fresh start. In 32 games last season, the 35-year-old scored 2 goals and 13 assists.

He also played a handful of games on D last season, helping out on the blueline. His versatility is a great tool to have in the team, and Head Coach Steven Lynch will know he can use that throughout the upcoming season if needed.

Standing at 6ft 3”, Philly brings a wealth of valuable experience to the roster, having been around the league for many years. He also played in the Elite League with the Caps, Dundee Stars, and Fife Flyers back in 2009-2012. From there, he has iced in the SNL with the Tigers, Comets, and the Paisley Pirates over the last 13 years.

We spoke with Kris to ask him about his return to the club, “I’m looking forward to getting back at it with the lads. We had the team last year to win, but for whatever reason, we didn’t, and it is very much unfinished business.

“No one likes losing, and no one turns up to lose. The 8-1 Scottish Cup Semi Final embarrassment still haunts us. We owe the fans for that performance, and we will look to repay them this season.

“We have, without a doubt, the best fans in the league, and they create the best atmosphere, so they deserve silverware more than anyone.

“The Lion’s Den will be jumping again, and I am buzzing to be back and part of it all.”

Assistant Coach Chad Smith is happy to bring back another vital member of the squad, “We are delighted to have Philly back for a second season. He brings a lot of experience to the room and has been around the league for a number of years.

“He is also a guy who can play forward or on D, and that will always come in handy throughout the season. Philly is also great with the younger players on the team and is always looking to pass on advice to help them become better players.

“The big man is another important piece of the jigsaw, and it’s all coming together just nicely.”

The team is really taking shape now. Watch out for more signings as they happen very soon.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
