Lukas Steps Up To Senior Hockey

08/07/2025

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Lukas James for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.

The 18-year-old forward steps up to the Caps, having finished his junior career at the end of last season. Lukas played the second part of the 2024-25 campaign with the club, making 12 appearances, scoring 1 goal, and picking up 2 assists.

Lukas has progressed through the Murrayfield Junior system since way back in 2015. He finished his last season as captain of the U19s. He was 3rd in team scoring with 10 goals and 6 assists in 15 games. He will bring speed to the Caps roster, and he will be hoping to take any opportunities that come his way on the ice in his first full season of senior hockey.

On re-signing with the Caps, Lukas said, “My short stint with the Caps so far has been an experience like no other. Playing in front of these amazing fans is a real privilege, and I can’t wait to get back in the Lion’s Den and go try to win some silverware.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch has been impressed by Lukas and is happy to have him back on board. “Lukas came into the team mid-way through last season and impressed us all with the limited opportunities he got.

“What Chad and I will be looking for from him now is to start making some of the senior players look over their shoulders at practice and in games, because he will hopefully be either driving them on or pushing them down the line up.

“He has a lot of speed, can put a puck in the net, and has a will to improve. Yes, he’s still got flaws that we’ll work on, but we’ve got a great kid who we’re happy to keep developing and we’re excited to see how far he can go with the Caps.”

There is only a handful of slots left to fill on the roster, and all will be revealed over the coming weeks.
