Dman Deano Is Back

09/08/2025

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Dean Walker for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.

Deano returns for his 4th season since the club re-formed back in 2022. He will again be part of the defensive unit, bringing experience having played in the league for a number of years.

In the previous 4 years, Deano has scored 3 goals and 18 assists for 21 points in 95 games. Last season he grabbed 2+5 for a total of 7 points. His two goals coming against Aberdeen Lynx and North Ayr Wild.

Having grown up in the Murrayfield junior system, the Edinburgh-born Dman stepped up to the SNL in 2013-14 with the Capitals before joining the then newly formed Murrayfield Racers back in 2018. A successful two years saw the Racers win a number of trophies before COVID hit and unfortunately they could not take to the ice in 2020.

As you all know, the Capitals were back in 2022, and Deano was delighted to sign on with his hometown team. On returning for another year, he said, “I’m excited to be back with the team for another season. Having grown up in Edinburgh, the Capitals have been the team I grew up supporting, so it’s been great to play with the club. We came up short last year, and the boys want to put that right.

“Lynchy and Chad have put together a very strong team with plenty of depth, something we maybe didn’t have last year. I can’t wait to get back out in front of the Caps fans here in the Lion’s Den in a few weeks, by far the best fanbase in the league!”

Head Coach Steven Lynch knows the importance of having depth on the back end and said, “It’s important to have Dean back in the dressing room for a number of reasons.

“He’s experienced, having been around the SNL for several years now, and he’s a popular guy with his teammates and always plays the game with a smile on his face.

“He’ll also give us some much-needed depth to our defensive group as we prepare for a long season ahead.

“Our roster is close to being completed now, with just one or two additions to be announced, and it won’t be long until we hit the ice.”

The lineup is almost complete, Caps fans. The opening face-off is getting closer. Anyone excited yet?
