Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Rhys Stenhouse for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.
Rhys played in 34 games last season scoring 1 goal and 2 assists. His goal came against Kilmarnock Thunder and was his second for the club. In the last 3 campaigns he has iced in 68 games scoring 2 goals and 3 assists for a total of 5 points.
This coming season he will be looking to put pressure on the senior players in the squad and start pushing them more. Once again, Rhys will take any opportunity given to him and will hope to pick up regular shifts as the year goes on.
Like Cammy Gallagher, Rhys was part of the GB U23 Ball Hockey squad that recently travelled to the Czech Republic for the World Championships. This opportunity was valuable experience for both lads, and it will only stand them in good stead going forward.
On returning for the new season, Rhys said, “I’m super excited to be back for another season, we’ve set a goal to win it all, and with the team the coaching staff have put together I’m sure we can do just that.
“The last 3 years, the league title has been close, but we could just not get over the line. Hopefully, this can be our year and we can repay the fantastic supporters who follow us week in week out.”
Assistant Coach Chad Smith knows how important it is to have depth in the squad and Rhys gives us that at the back end. “We know that this season we need to have depth in both the forward and defensive areas of the team. Bringing Rhys back gives us another option on our D unit and we know when given a chance, he will do a job for us on the blueline.
“He maybe hasn’t had as many opportunities as he would have liked the last 3 years but he knows he just needs to keep pushing the other guys on the team and when his chance comes he needs to take it.”
We are almost complete. The season is fast approaching, Caps fans.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
