Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Sean Cochrane for the 2025-2025 SNL campaign.
The 29-year-old Kirkcaldy-born playmaker is back for his 4th season here in Edinburgh. Like a handful of others, Sean joined the club in the summer of 2022 from rivals Kirkcaldy Kestrels.
In his 3 years so far, Sean has played in 103 games, scoring 35 goals and picking up 74 assists for a total of 109 points. He will again bring a wealth of experience to the team, and he will play a huge part if we are to have any success this coming season. Last term saw him post 7 goals and 26 assists for 33 points in 32 games.
Starting his career playing in the Kirkcaldy Junior system, he got his first taste of senior hockey back in 2012 when he played 8 games for the Kestrels at just 16 years old. Sean also represented Scotland at all junior age groups. He has since been playing in the SNL, spending 10 years as a Kestrel before crossing the Forth to join the Caps.
Another year, and how can we not mention that goal! Back in February 2023, with only 0.1 of a second left, Sean shot from the halfway line to beat the Kilmarnock goalie and give us a 7-6 victory. Possibly one of the best goals ever witnessed here at Murrayfield.
On his return for another year, Sean had this to say, “I’m delighted to re-sign with the Edinburgh Capitals. The club’s vision and the support of the fans make it a special place to play. I’m looking forward to building on what we’ve started.
“I can’t wait to get back on the ice with the boys in a few weeks time. Hopefully, we can win some silverware for the fans, which they truly deserve.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch has added another vital signing to the roster and commented, “Another signing that everyone associated with the club is delighted with. Sean returns for his 4th season with us and has become an integral part of our team during his time here.
“He’s become a very dependable centreman who has a lot of speed that always causes defencemen problems and has a good knowledge of the game.
“He’s also starting to approach that veteran stage where some players look to him for leadership through the experience that he’s gained in the SNL over the years.
“Sean is one of the final few pieces of the jigsaw as we approach the start of the season, and I know that we’re a better team with him as part of the line up.”
The roster is now beginning to take shape. A few signings have still to be confirmed, so keep your eyes on our social media channels.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
