Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the signing of forward Scott McKay for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.
The 20-year-old has spent the last two seasons icing with league rivals Paisley Pirates. He is also no stranger to us here in Edinburgh, having played 6 games with the club at the tail end of season 2022-23.
In his last two years at Paisley, he has played 47 games, scoring 6 goals and 3 assists for 9 points. He also picked up 69 penalty minutes and has shown on a number of occasions that he is not scared to stick up for his teammates.
Having grown up in the Kirkcaldy junior system, Scott then moved to Murrayfield back in 2022 to play his second last year of junior before finishing his U19 career with the Lightning Pirates. That year with the Pirates, he played 14 games, scoring 7+6 for 13 points whilst also captaining the side.
Scott has been training with the Caps all of pre-season, and we are now excited to see him sign on for the year ahead. The hard working, gritty forward had this to say on his return, “I’m delighted to be back in Edinburgh, it’s a very exciting team that has been put together to push for silverware this season.
“I have enjoyed pre-season being back on the ice with the boys and can’t wait to get the season started.
“Steven Lynch is a coach I know very well from junior hockey in Kirkcaldy, and I feel he can get the best out of me as a player. Mon The Caps!!!”
Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to add another addition to the team just as the campaign is about to get underway. “Since we last had Scott here in a Caps jersey, he’s gained two valuable years of ice time over at Paisley, which has helped with his development.
“Caps fans will remember him as a hard working kid with a good attitude and a player who plays with a lot of grit and determination.
“We will be looking for him to show that he is ready for a bigger role with us than he got last time round.”
Scott will be icing this weekend in our home double header against the Sheffield Steeldogs.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
