Edinburgh Capitals v North Ayrshire Wild Match Report 22/11/2025
The Edinburgh Capitals defeated the North Ayrshire Wild 2-0 to advance to the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals.
On Saturday, 1,850 fans piled into the Murrayfield Ice Arena to cheer the Capitals to yet another win. The team is now 13-0 on the season and 11-0 in league play, a historic start for any Edinburgh sports team.
In the first, the Capitals ran into a hot goaltender in Caiden MacColl, who kept the game scoreless after one, stopping all 12 shots he faced.
Although MacColl was tough to beat, the Capitals looked uncharacteristically disconnected offensively, not living up to the standard they’ve set for themselves this season.
In the second, however, the Caps found their stride, potting two goals. A quick one-timer by big-man Kris Phillips beat MacColl to open the scoring, and another, a shorthanded goal, was ripped bar-down by Chad Smith.
The third period mirrored the first as the Capitals, now winning by six goals on aggregate, seemingly took the back seat and coasted to victory.

Fortunately for them, Ben Keddie put in another stellar performance between the pipes, stopping 14/14 and making several huge saves on the Wild’s chances to cap off his third shutout of the season.
Keddie was awarded man-of-the-match honours and continued to add onto his exceptional stat line of a .943 SV% and a 1.88 GAA.
The Capitals will return to league play next weekend away at Fife to face league rivals the Kirkcaldy Kestrels, which, based on their past match-ups this season (6-5 and 5-3 Caps victories), will be a tough game for both sides. They then return to Murrayfield on Sunday night to once again face North Ayrshire Wild, this time on league duty.
