Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the signing of forward Garry Simpson for the remainder of the 2025-26 SNL campaign.
25-year-old Garry has recently been playing in Paisley with the Pirates, having started the season in the NIHL 1 with Blackburn Hawks. Over the last few years, Garry has been a prolific goalscorer in the SNL with the Pirates, Dundee Comets, Murrayfield Racers, and Kirkcaldy Kestrels.
In only 6 games for the Pirates this season, Garry scored 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points, adding to his 11 points from 11 games in Blackburn.
The 6ft 3” forward will bring a wealth of experience at a very vital stage of the season as we look to bring some silverware back to Edinburgh.
He grew up through the Kirkcaldy Junior system and also represented Scotland at all age groups. Along with the SNL teams, he has iced for Garry has also played with Whitley Warriors, Bracknell Bees, Bristol Pitbulls, and Deeside Dragons, all in the NIHL.
Garry had this to say on joining the club, “I’m excited to sign for Caps as I want to enjoy playing hockey again and bring back the spark I had at the start of the season with Blackburn.
I can’t wait to play in front of the Caps fans. Every time I have played here, the atmosphere has been brilliant, and I love how great they support the team throughout every game.
I hope that we can win some silverware this season and hopefully I can contribute to this by putting points on the board as well.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch knows this is a huge addition as we head into 2026. “This signing has been three and a half years in the making. Garry and I have spoken numerous times since we reformed, and I took this job. There have been at least three times when we thought it was happening, but something’s always got in the way. Now he’s here, I couldn’t be happier that we’ll see him in a Caps jersey.
Garry can play the game and will give us scoring, energy, depth, and someone who can play the power play and kill penalties.
We’ve added a vital piece for the second half of the season.”
We are sure you will all give Garry a very warm welcome here to the Lion’s Den.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
