Defenceman Scott Geddes has decided to hang up his skates following three fantastic seasons with the club.
Scotty signed with the Caps ahead of the 2023-2024 campaign and played a key role in our Play-Off Championship-winning side that season.
Last year, he was an integral part of our historic double-winning campaign, bringing leadership, commitment, and a fearless attitude to the ice every single night. A dependable defenceman who was never afraid to put his body on the line for the team, Scotty earned the respect of his teammates and the admiration of the Caps faithful.
Across 113 appearances, he recorded 8 goals and 44 assists for a total of 52 points, sitting only 36 minutes in penalties.
Scott sent us these words, “Caps fans, the time has come for me to call it a day on my SNL career. The past 3 seasons have been the most enjoyable I’ve had in my hockey journey.
“Going out winning the double is most definitely the best way to go. It’s not a decision I’ve made easily, but I’m at the stage in life where other things need to become priority.
I want to thank the guys I’ve played with over the past couple of years for making playing with the Caps so enjoyable. It’s the best changing room I’ve been a part of.
“I want to thank the Caps organisation for everything they’ve done for me; they helped me through a very difficult time in my first season with the club, and I’ll be forever grateful. And finally, I want to thank the Caps fans for all the support they’ve shown me. You truly are the best fans in the league. I won’t be a stranger to the rink and will make an effort to come through and cheer the boys on with you.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch also had a few words on our departing blueliner, “Scott informed me of his decision a couple of days ago, and while it’s disappointing to lose a player, I completely understand his reason.
“We thank him for giving us three years, he was a very likeable and popular guy within the team and was 100% committed to the cause.
“We wish him well and have made it known to him that if he changes his mind, he knows where to find us.”
Everyone at the club would like to thank Scotty for his dedication and contribution over the years. We wish him all the very best in his retirement and look forward to welcoming him back to the Lion’s Den in the future.
