Scotty Signs On Once More

06/06/2026

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Scott McKay for the 2026/27 SNL campaign.

Scotty was a key part of last season’s double-winning squad, bringing grit, determination, and an outstanding work ethic to our third line. Never one to back down from a challenge, he combines toughness with intelligence and a winning mentality that makes him an invaluable member of the team.

The 21-year-old was never afraid to stand up for his teammates, dropping the gloves on several occasions throughout the season. Alongside his physical presence, Scotty contributed offensively with 4 goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 35 games, while also accumulating 79 penalty minutes.

Having developed through the Kirkcaldy junior system, Scott later moved to Edinburgh to play for Murrayfield Juniors. During that same season, he made six appearances for the Capitals before moving to Paisley the following summer.

Scott spent two seasons with the Pirates before returning to the Capitals at the beginning of last season. He is the type of player every team needs, quiet and humble off the ice, but a committed and selfless teammate on it.

Speaking about his return for the new season, Scott said, “I really enjoyed last season. To go from being in a position where I felt like quitting hockey altogether to being given the opportunity to come back and give it my all again was massive for me.

“Having the fans behind you gives you that extra push to get results over the line, and me and the boys can’t wait to get started again.

“It’s going to be another fun season, and hopefully we can add more silverware because you never get tired of winning trophies.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to have Scott back on the roster, “Every team needs a Scotty ‘Maverick’ McKay on its roster. Someone who isn’t flashy but is willing to do the dirty work. Someone rough like sandpaper, who battles in the corners, blocks shots, drops the gloves when needed, and is the type of player every forward wants on their line.

“I’ve known Scott since he was about six years old, and he’s never changed. He’s quiet, humble, and always wants to get the job done.

“He had a great season for us last year. We’re delighted to have brought him back to Edinburgh, and we’re looking forward to having him with us for another season.”

Another important piece of the puzzle is now in place as preparations continue for the new campaign.

More signing announcements will be coming very soon.
