Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the signing of forward Ross Borwick for the 2026-2027 SNL campaign.
A familiar face to the Capitals faithful, “Ross the Boss” returns to Murrayfield after previously icing for the club between 2022 and 2025. Ross stepped away from senior hockey at the end of the 2024-2025 season but has decided the time is right to pull on the Capitals jersey once again.
The Edinburgh-born forward brings plenty of experience, grit and character back to the lineup. Never one to shy away from the physical side of the game, Ross has built a reputation for standing up for his teammates, while also proving he can contribute offensively when called upon.
During his last season with the Capitals, Ross played 29 games, recording 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points, while also amassing 111 penalty minutes. Away from the ice, he was a hugely popular figure in the dressing room, and his leadership and personality will be a welcome addition as he rejoins the squad.
A product of the Murrayfield junior system, Ross progressed into senior hockey with the Capitals before enjoying success with the Murrayfield Racers prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. He returned to the Capitals when the club reformed in 2022 and now begins another chapter here in Edinburgh.
On returning to the Lions’ Den, Ross said, “It’s great to be back with the Caps after a year away. I can’t wait to get started again and get back in the dressing room with the boys.
“The team had a fantastic season last year, and the aim is to build on that success and bring even more silverware back to Edinburgh.
“Since I left, the crowds have just kept getting bigger and better, and I’m really looking forward to skating out in front of the Caps fans again. I can’t wait to see everyone back at the rink.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to add another experienced player to his roster ahead of the new season, “It’s great to have Ross back as part of the team. He took a year out but admitted he missed being involved and wanted to get back playing.
“He’s a popular guy in the dressing room and, after losing Adam and Sean, it was important to bring in another forward before the season started. Ross brings a bit of an edge to our game and having him back gives us more competition for places and adds valuable depth to the squad over what will be a long season.”
Ross’s signing takes the Capitals to 25 players on the roster for the 2026-2027 season, with pre-season now just weeks away as preparations ramp up for another exciting SNL campaign.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
