Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce a second two-way deal with NIHL side Solway Sharks. Please give a warm welcome to Andrew Craik who has joined the club for the 2023-24 SNL campaign.
20-year-old forward Andrew was born in Dumfries and has grown up playing his hockey through the Solway Junior system. In 2019-20 he would taste senior hockey for the first time when he iced with the Sharks in both the SNL and the NIHL 1.
After missing a year due to the pandemic Andrew returned to the Sharks roster in season 2021-22. For the next two campaigns, he would be part of the remarkably successful team that Head Coach Martin Grubb put together, as they dominated the NIHL 1.
A treble in 2021-22 and then a quadruple last season shows that young Andy knows what it takes to play on a winning team. Along with his Sharks teammate Ruairi Lockerbie, he will train and play with the Capitals when possible this upcoming campaign.
Head Coach Steven Lynch is excited to work closely with the Solway Sharks once again and bring Andrew on board, “This is another welcome addition to our roster as we look to close it out. Andy’s coaches in Solway say a lot of good things about him, his character, his work rate, and the improvements he’s made to his game in the last season or two.
We’re happy he’s joining us as he’ll give us a little bit more depth up front and give more competition for places. He seems really excited to be joining the Caps and I look forward to working with him this season.”
Andrew has this to say on the new chapter in his career, “I’m really looking forward to playing in Edinburgh. I’m looking forward to the new challenge and I’m excited about the experience of playing with a new team and meeting new teammates!
I’ve only heard good things about the Capitals and really look forward to playing in front of the fans, as well as putting on a show!”
The roster is almost complete with one or two spots left to fill. Stay tuned to our social media pages for the final parts of the jigsaw as we get prepared for the 2023-24 SNL season.
