Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce that Jim Paterson, Rob Smith, John Fairley, and Mark Easton will be back in their roles for the 2024-25 SNL campaign.
All the talk has been of the on ice team through the summer months but these four signings are as vital as any other in the club.
Jim as Team Manager brings a wealth of experience having been involved in the impressive Lanarkshire Lightning Junior system for many years as well as the Scotland setup. Rob is a Caps fan first and foremost and did some photography here at the rink at games back in the Elite League days before turning his hand to the vacant Equipment Manager job.
John is a face everyone knows around the rink having been part of the setup for many many years. No job is ever too much for John and he is always happy to help. Easty will once again cover the Media/Public Relations role and work hard to keep all the fans up to date on all things Caps throughout the season.
All four are a huge part of the team and bring their qualities to the locker room. It’s great to see them all back now the season is only weeks away.
Head Coach Steven Lynch knows the importance of a good off ice staff and had this to say on his backroom roster. “The best compliment I can give these guys is that the team simply wouldn’t run without them.
Jim Paterson has a wealth of experience in the game having worked with SIH and also helped with setting up Lanarkshire Lightning Ice Hockey Club. He knows the ins and outs of the administrative side of the game and to be honest, does all the jobs I don’t want to or know enough about.
And what can we say about Rob Smith? Well, this guy’s the glue that holds us all together. From setting up the dressing room on practice & game nights (it’s his room he tells us, not ours), looking after all the guys all year with everything they need, and doing everything else asked of him from September to April from tying shoelaces and blowing noses – all the things these guys can’t do for themselves!! Yes, he’s old, yes he’s a bit deaf and yes he’s going senile but every player in the team absolutely loves the guy and he loves looking after us all.
John Fairley has spent a huge part of his life working with and helping the Caps and he absolutely loves this club. Nothing is too much and there’s not a job he can’t do.
And let’s not forget Mark Easton, Easty has been a Caps fan from the beginning, almost 25 years ago! He works just as hard as anyone behind the scenes for this club as our Media Manager and assists in just about everything else to do with the team, (manager, statistician, video analysis etc, etc. He probably tells his mates he’s part of the coaching team and the first line centre too) throughout the season.
Another guy who’s loved and appreciated by the boys and another vital cog in the wheel to help make the club successful. To be truthful, this guy probably spends as much time as anyone else involved with the club does to give our great fans an amazing social media presence, some funny (and stupid) videos throughout the year, game analysis, and a whole lot more.
Welcome back you four. The place would fall apart without you!!”
