Patriks Is Back For A Second Time

31/01/2025

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the return signing of import defenceman Patriks Grigors for the remainder of the 2024-2025 SNL campaign.

Patriks started the season here at the club as a spare import before deciding to make the move to NIHL1 side Whitley Warriors. He would go on to play 11 games for the Tyneside-based club.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments, Patriks could not commit fully to the NIHL1 schedule and both club and player decided to part ways. The Latvian-born blueliner will once again sign as an additional import and will ice should James Isaacs or brother Rihards be unable to take to the ice.

Like his brother Rihards, he played his junior hockey in his homeland with Jelgava. In 2017-2018 he arrived in Edinburgh and joined the Murrayfield Junior system to play U20s. He would also ice in 3 games for the Capitals SNL team playing alongside a number of the current Caps roster. From there it was onto Murrayfield Racers, Dundee Comets, and Billingham Stars.

At this vital time of the season, Head Coach Steven Lynch knows how important it is to have cover. “When Patriks became available once again we moved quickly to get him back onboard for the remainder of the season. Everyone knows having competition for places makes players push themselves that little bit harder and Patriks will be ready to play should the chance arise.

He already knows the players having trained with us a big part of the season. At the business end of the campaign we need to be ready for whatever comes our way and having a spare import gives us cover in that department.”

Patriks had this to say on his return, “I have been training with the Caps throughout the season, and being unable to commit to the Warriors I felt it was best for both parties to move on.

I am familiar with all the boys so look forward to getting back out there on the ice here at Murrayfield. When the chance comes along, I will be ready to step into the line up and do my best for the Caps.”

LET’S GO CAPITALS!!!
