Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce the re-signing of forward Joe Lynch for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.
Over the last three years, we have been lucky to watch Joe grow as a player and become a valuable part of the roster. Last season, he finished second top scorer for the club hitting the net 45 times and grabbing 30 assists for a total of 75 points.
In his 3 years as a Cap, he has a total of 135 points (83+52) in 106 games. This is a great return from an 18-year-old, and we are sure he will go from strength to strength again this upcoming season.
Joe was on a two-way deal with Solway Sharks at the start of last season and gained some experience of playing in the NIHL. As the campaign progressed, he started to train with Fife Flyers of the Elite League and would go on to feature in 10 games for the Kirkcaldy side.
The soon to be 19 year old grew up playing his junior hockey for his hometown in Kirkcaldy. He then spent a year in Dundee before stepping into senior hockey here back in 2022. He has also represented Scotland at all junior age groups and has been part of the GB U16 & U20 set up for the last few years.
The club is delighted he has chosen to stay another year here as a Capital. He had this to say on his return, “Signing back in Edinburgh was a no-brainer for me, I have called this place home for 3 years, and I’m buzzing to be back for my 4th year with the club.
“Last year I had what I would call a breakout season, but at the end of the day, the personal points meant nothing in the end as we didn’t achieve what we set out for at the start of the season.
“My targets don’t change for the year ahead, I want to win everything and help the team as much as I can to achieve our goals, I have already been taking the off-season seriously, and I can’t wait to get started back after the summer.
“See you all in September, Caps fans. It’s going to be a fun one.”
Assistant Coach Chad Smith knows we will be only able to keep hold of Joe here for so long but is delighted to see him back, “It’s great to have Joe back for the new season, his progression over the last 3 years has made him a huge asset to the club and a top player in the league. Everyone can see he is going to have a great future in the sport, so we are lucky to have him as part of the team for another year.
“If we are to push for silverware again this season, we need Joe with us. Lynchy and I have been working hard to re-sign the core guys from last year as early as possible, and Joe is one of those.
“We are looking forward to seeing what this season brings for him after such an impressive year last time out.”
Joe will also be carrying out his joinery apprenticeship with PJ Green, one of our club sponsors.
It’s an exciting time as the club looks to put a strong team on the ice come September…stay tuned!
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
