Edinburgh Capitals are excited to announce new signing Kyle Howie for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.
Kyle arrives at the club from North Ayrshire Wild, where he has played in the SNL for the last two seasons. The 19-year-old forward played in 47 games for the Wild, scoring 13 goals and 15 assists for a total of 28 points.
Having grown up through the Kirkcaldy Junior system, he also had a spell at Lanarkshire Lightning before playing his final year junior in North Ayr. Although still very young, he will relish the chance to play here in the capital this coming year with the Capitals.
While in Lanarkshire with the U16s, he was a teammate of our very own Aiden Paterson, and they will look forward to linking up once again.
Once again this year Kyle will be studying at University here in Edinburgh, so it is a perfect fit for both parties. He split his time last season between the Wild and also iced for the Edinburgh University team, the Eagles. In 10 games for them, he scored 12 points, 8 goals, and 4 assists.
We look forward to seeing Kyle on the roster come September when we hit the ice here at Murrayfield.
On signing with the Caps, Kyle said, “Caps fans, I’m really looking forward to playing in front of you all this coming season as a Caps player. I can’t wait to join this amazing team with a lot of experienced and talented players. Hopefully, we can bring back some silverware for you come next April.
“After two and a half years, I’ve made the move from North Ayr to further my development, and the fact it is substantially closer. I would like to thank Wild for giving me my first opportunity in senior hockey and without it I would never have had the chance to join such a great team like the Capitals.
“Once again, I am really looking forward to playing here in the Lion’s Den and to get the season rolling.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch knows the importance of having youth on his team and said, “I’ve known Kyle for a few years now, having coached him previously at junior level. He’s got a great attitude towards hockey, and he’s a good kid who’s going to be a good fit in our dressing room.
“What impresses me the most about him is the level of improvement he has made to his game in the last 2-3 years. He’s obviously still young, but he’s what you might call a bit of a late developer, which is testament to his work ethic and his willingness to learn. I know I’m going to enjoy working with him again, Chad will too, and I know we’ve got a player that’s deserving of the opportunity to play on a bigger team and can take his game to the next level here in Edinburgh.”
A lot more signing news is still to come, so stay tuned Caps fans.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
